The Smart Cities Mission was launched in 2015 to enable cities that ensure a decent quality of life. Five years later, it’s time for stocktaking—to see how far we have come, and the experiences and challenges along the way.
The workshop brought together practitioners, administrators, and experts, who shared their experiences and evolved strategies for smart cities in Karnataka. With plenary sessions and focus group discussions, the workshop paved innovative pathways, technology strategies, and policy guidance to develop smart cities in Karnataka. The sessions focused on on Transport; Water and Sanitation; Solid Waste Management; and Disaster Resilience, Environment, and Ecology. Technology and governance was a cross-cutting theme across the four sessions.
The workshop will bring out a summary report with theme-wise recommendations. This will further evolve into a policy note to make smart cities more effective.
